How do I connect my brand’s social media accounts in Shopify?
Displaying your brand’s socials on-site is a great way to gain new followers who will hopefully become brand-loyal repeat shoppers. If you’re just getting started on Shopify, you may be wondering how all the stores you’ve browsed display their social media buttons.
Well, wonder no more! It’s super simple to connect your brand’s social media accounts in Shopify. Let’s walk through it.
To start, navigate in Shopify Admin to Sales Channels → Online Store → Themes:
Click “Customize” on your current live theme (or whichever theme you’d like to connect your social accounts to):
Navigate to the left sidebar menu to Theme Settings → Social:
Here you’ll find a variety of social options - add your social URLs to any of the relevant text boxes:
Once updated, click “Save”! Social icons will now display in your brand’s footer. Social media icon design will be dependent on your Shopify theme - here are some examples from live Shopify sites:
… and that’s it! Super simple, and now your customers can connect with you on all your socials.
You and I both know that not everyone visiting your online store will become a buyer.
But what if I could help you to bump up that percentage?
And a bonus… setting a social media image in Shopify!
While you’re making these social updates, why not set a social media image in Shopify? This image will populate as a thumbnail on social media when you post a link to your store.
It’s worthwhile to set this so that you can ensure your link thumbnails look on-brand and are always cropped properly!
To set this image, navigate back to Sales Channels → Online Store → Preferences:
Navigate to “Social Sharing Image,” and upload a photo:
Then click “Save.” Note that the recommended image size is 1200x628 pixels.
Love it! Great work on refining your brand’s online presence via Shopify.
